The good folks at Strange Attractor Press have started a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the release of an amazing new project. Well, I say ‘new’ but actually, this was originally created back around 1906 by the Occult artist supreme Austin Osman Spare (who we mention briefly in our recent podcast episode with Michael Staley).
Strange Attractor originally released a full-length study of the deck a while back in the form of ‘Lost Envoy: The Tarot Deck of Austin Osman Spare’. Annoyingly, this book sold out before I could get my hands on it, but as part of this Kickstarter, Strange Attractor hopes to re-release it. Have a look at the video for the campaign below:
Strange Attractor Press, in association with The Magic Circle Museum, introduce the long-awaited second edition of the long out-of-print book Lost Envoy – the Tarot Deck of Austin Osman Spare and, for the first time, a facsimile reproduction of the artist’s unique cartomancy deck.
If thier campaign is successful, and they are optimistic that it will be, then ‘we can see no risks in getting the book and reproduction deck into print. Following on from the creative success of the first edition, we are confident that the paperback edition will be a deserving successor to the original. We’ll be working with highly experienced designers and printers on the deck itself, and expect this to complement both editions of the book and also work as a stand alone deck. If the campaign is a success we’ll expect to be able to ship books to backers in Summer 2023.’
