TANG
As soon as this album started I sighed. Not because the first song is bad…there’s nothing bad about this album at all. I think the problem I had with it is that I spent the whole time trying to remember who they sound like. They bravely put themselves forward as an emo / hardcore band (they’re much more emo than hardcore) and that’s accurate. Their songs are all well put together but …like I said…its just so heavily redolent of other bands I’ve heard that I can’t bring myself to get excited about it. Another factor in my so-so reaction to this album is that while the whole thing is very professional it got no emotional response from me at all. Technically it’s fine but the whole point of music (for me) is to stimulate an emotional response and this was just so much background music in that respect. If you’ve never heard emo/hardcore by all means give this a go, but it’s not one that will live in my memory.
