K. Flay: don't mess with her.

I first heard K. Flay when she popped up on the excellent ‘Digital Gangster LP’ with MC Lars and YTCracker. I was really impressed with her gritty-high-speed style, and I’ve stayed a loyal fan since.

Guest appearances, and collaborations aside, Miss Flay has only released a mix tape titled ‘Mashed Potatoes’, which you should go and download now here – it’s free (a bargain) –  and a single a month or so ago.

‘No Duh’, Flay’s first solo paid-release, is her best offering yet. The super-catchy rhymes and samples seem a lot more considered and paced than her previous releases. The bullet-like rapping is still present, and is still as biting and erudite as ever; but she’s spaced it out really nicely with relaxed singing, and nasty electro breaks. Great stuff!
