Riot. Sorry. Somehow my formatting went a little awry there. Yes I know I’m pathetic.
Anyway, CCN listeners will be fully aware of the trials of Pussy Riot the all girl Russian punk band. Two of its members are currently in prison in Russia because they mounted a political protest, forcing the other members to flee the country. Now whatever you might think of Pussy Riot’s music (its balls) I don’t think you’d find many people arguing that it’s ok to send anyone to prison for voicing their opinion. And while there have been questions over some of Pussy Riots ideologies (they might be a little bit right wing) I would again say that non-violent political protest should not rightly be rewarded with pison terms, especially when you bear in mind that they have been forced to leave their children in the hands of others.
Where am I going with all this ? Well, one man has enlisted the help of a horde of talented and accomplished musicians and created a charity Bandcamp compilation album to raise funds in aid of Pussy Riot. Into The Light is a three volume (51 track) monster that can be downloaded for a fee as nominated by you. New music, good deeds and all at bargain prices.
