Charmingly shambolic garage rock with undertones of shoegaze, psychedelia and surf, The Super Vacations aren’t too worried about being in time or tune with each other. The barely discernible vocals are slightly ethereal lending a slightly spooky edge to an otherwise fuzzy sound. When you might expect a solo, all of a sudden the band seem to get tired and just loosely strum their instruments making a noise. It is tempting to compare them to Pavement, but Pavement sound like Iron Maiden compared to this lot. Most of the 21 songs on the album clock in at around two minutes or under, so there is really no chance to get bored and their penchant for starting and stopping songs seemingly randomly is endearing. Well worth listening to and I would love to see this band perform live.
