Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) have launched a new video campaign against fast-food giants McDonalds. In the video, a dead man in a mortuary can be seen clutching a half-eaten McDonald’s burger, whilst his widowed partner (let’s not assume wife, it’s 2010 you godless fools):
Now all this would be fine, if it wasn’t for the fact that there is no solid proof that a vegetarian diet is healthier than that of a omnivore. One of the great myths is of course that ‘vegetarian’s live 9 years longer than omnivores’. From Craig Fitzroy’s ‘The Great Fallacies of Vegetarianism‘:
The ‘ nine-year advantage ‘ is an oft-repeated but invariably unsourced piece of anecdotal evidence for vegetarianism. But anyone who believes that by snubbing mum’s Sunday roast they will be adding a decade to their years on the planet is almost certainly indulging in a bit of wishful thinking.
So is this video actually worth backing, or is it yet another play on the poorly informed ‘Joe public’?
