In what could create a trickle effect back to non-US countries, a decision today could spell the end of the Internet as we know it.

The Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, has been looming over us Internet content-creators for months now, and today, DC will be hearing on the matter:

Don’t be fooled, SOPA is just an extension of the Protect IP bill, and could make it difficult not only to get decent material across video sharing sites, but also sites like this one you’re reading, which could retroactively get blocked for unwittingly sharing something SONY, or Universal doesn’t like.

We’ll be covering this story in greater detail on next weeks episode of CCN, and – as a content creator myself – I’ll be watching this story with a great deal of interest.

If you believe in an open Internet, so should you.
