Although he is probably best known as a “living expert” on Eastern mysticism and Western Magick, before Lon Milo DuQuette  became a famous Magician, he was a critically acclaimed recording artist on Epic Records.  After a twenty five year hiatus, Lon resumed his career in 2005 when a Canadian documentary film director asked him to play some of his old tunes.  Since then he has  recorded two collections of new songs (“The White Album” and “The Black Album”.) These collections were largely self-produced, sometimes using nothing more than a hand held recorder in an extra bedroom.

The popularity of these recordings and the subsequent demand for live performances inspired Lon to re-dedicate himself to making music as well as magic. The result of this re-dedication is the creation of some of his most beloved songs ever.

Lon would very much like to get this material preserved in a format that does justice to the songs and provides the best possible experience for future listeners. To accomplish this requires a recording space, sound engineers and equipment. Although these can be found at reasonable cost, they are not free.

An average track on a CD can take three to five hours to record and three or four to mix. It can also involve other musicians and, eventually, mastering and other services.

By careful stewardship of the funds we raise, we are hoping to keep our average cost of recording a song down to $500.  We are hoping to raise enough money to cover the recording costs of at least eight new songs.

Lon’s songs are both funny and sad, inspiring and whimsical, silly and serious. Above all, they are very entertaining and he’d like very much to give them a chance to live and reach as many people as possible.   Whether you can afford $5, $50 or more, we’d be very grateful for anything you can give to help make these recordings, and Lon’s dream, a reality.

In Enochian Vision Magic, Duquette attempts to not only document the fascinating story of Dr John Dee and Edward Kelly’s quest to make contact with spiritual entities, but also to instruct the reader in the practical application of their findings in the modern environment.

Readers not already familiar with Duquette’s writings will feel instantly at ease with this book, while regulars will appreciate his attention to detail/yet solid conveyance of the topic at hand.

What I feel separates this work from others on the subject, is the intensive research and notation of the original Dee texts. Duquette doesn’t just present the reader with a ‘how-to’ textbook, he painstakingly explains all the symbology and application of each element. At the same time he also provides the reader with a pretty concise historical document, which I think will also appeal to the more casual reader interested in simply understanding the topic.

This book is a great blueprint for those interested in becoming practitioner’s of Enochian magic, as well as being a well written, and hugely accessible text for those just wishing to study the subject at an arms-length.

Our guest this week, Lon Milo DuQuette, has authored numerous magical texts including The Magick of Aleister Crowley, Understanding Aleister Crowley’s Thoth Tarot, and Gods of the New Millennium, but without question his most popular work is the story of his own life as a practicing ceremonial magician, My Life with the Spirits.

My Life with the Spirits has been optioned for a feature film and is a required text for classes at DePaul University, Chicago. He is often called upon to appear on radio and television to comment authoritatively on matters pertaining to the Western Mystery traditions and matters of the occult. He travels extensively worldwide and speaks on a broad range of esoteric topics including Qabalah and the Tarot. He is on the faculty of the OMEGA INSTITUTE in Rhinebeck, New York where he teaches ‘The Western Magical Tradition.’
