Bob's back! One of our favourite guests, and knowledgable chap when it comes to global folklore! In this episode, we build on our discussion in last interview by analysing ZOMBIES! Bob has a new book coming out soon entitled Zombies: A Field guide to the Walking Dead, so make sure you get your hands on that! WE ARE BACK! After some hefty technical problems, a brief spell of sickness and some general booking of awesome new guests...and I mean awesome, we finally return! This week me and our returning guest/co-host Raymond Wiley chat about The culture of Conspiracy belief! We decided the subject was so large that we would wax about some of our own experiences, some key theories and funny ones to boot! There is no music this week, mainly because we have been rushing around to much to find anything in time. Expect a total change of format in the coming weeks! We have sorted all the techy glitches and now we are adding a new audio version of the Weird Weekly News into the show. Throughout a varied life, he has worked in many fields—as a gravedigger, professional musician, journalist, and civil servant. He is now a history teacher and well known throughout Ireland and beyond as a writer and broadcaster. He has written extensively, in English and several other languages, on various aspects of history and folklore and acted as advisor to the Cultural Committee of the Northern Ireland Legislative Assembly. This weeks guest, Dean Haglund, is probably best known for his character 'Langly' from the hit Fox show The X Files. He also starred in the spin-off show 'The Lone Gunman' which ended in mysterious circumstances. We ask Dean about this mystery, as well as chatting to him about crazy serial killer software, medical conspiracies, being an inventor, what he knows about the new X Files movie and a slew of other cool stuff! This weeks guest, Nick Pope, used to run the British Government's UFO project at the Ministry of Defence. Initially sceptical, his research and investigation into the UFO phenomenon and access to formerly classified government files on the subject soon convinced him that the phenomenon raised important defence and national security issues, especially when the witnesses were military pilots or where UFOs were tracked on radar. Nick also looked into other mysteries such as alien abductions, crop circles and ghosts. He now continues his research in a private capacity and is recognised as a leading authority on UFOs and the unexplained. He does extensive media work, lectures all around the world and has acted as consultant on numerous television documentaries. Background music this week comes in the shape of Four Tet. This weeks guest, R U Sirius, is a cyber-culture icon and former editor of the amazing Mondo 2000 magazine. He's has written regular columns for Wired Magazine and the San Francisco Examiner. Sirius is also a fellow podcaster, with his semi-regular shows 'The R U Sirius Show' and 'The Neo Files'. He has contributed to the public discourse of emerging cyber-cultures extensively as well as authoring several books on topics like Counterculture and Revolution. We talk to RU about Counterculture, virtual reality, Timothy leary, Robert Anton Wilson, Comic Books...and Paul takes AGES to, boringly, ask a pretty simple question...*sigh*...enjoy. In this weeks episode we go deep into the roots of the Western Esoteric Tradition with our returning guest Raymond Wiley. Raymond is the former host of the amazing Out There Radio, and has recently graduated University with a BA in History where he specialised in the scholarly study of the Western Occultism. Raymond has a wealth of knowledge in the area we are discussing today, and presents it in his usual fun and highly interesting way. There is no me and Paul banter this week due to me having an infected tooth, which has made me not only look...but sound like The Godfather!
