EPISODE 20 - Open Source Reality with Douglas Rushkoff!
Categories: Podcasts, featured
Written By: Ken
This week we talk to one of my all time favourite writers and thinkers Douglas Rushkoff. In this episode we discuss, Obama’s potential to tap into bottom-up politics, what happens if we stop believing in the economy, Conspiracy Cultre, hacking reality, what the next renaissance might look like, writing comics, why advertising doesn’t work and Magick. I really hope you enjoy this special 20th episode of the show. I’m a HUGE fan of Mr Rushkoff making this a very special episode for me!
Joining me in the examiners chair this week is Media-Underground’s George Mortimer and FINALLY our very own Claire Lumiere!
Daddytank hits in with another baby killingly (this will make sense if you listen) awesome ‘Myspace Heroes’, featuring:
Babies In A Woodchipper
Klam
Made For Chickens By Robots
The Battery Davis
Zano Bathroom
Enjoy!
Douglas Rushkoff Bio (pinched from Wired.com)

His books include Media Virus, Coercion, Nothing Sacred: The Truth About Judaism (a book which opened up the question of Open Source Judaism), Exit Strategy (an online collaborative novel), and a monthly comic book, Testament. Yeah, engaging dialog like this will really make the world a better place.
Keep living in fear. It’s much easier for the Overlords to control your mind.

This page and some others crash on IE. Which though is not cool with the kids, I still prefer over other browsers. Check for errors with a PC if uploading from a Mac .

the episodes are edited on a PC, so I normally post from that.
We had a problem similar to this earlier, i’ll see if it can be sorted for you.
Theres a few alternative ways of getting the eps, either via a podcatcher like iTunes, or from our feedburner feed which is http://feeds.feedburner.com/rightwhereyouaresittingnow
hope that helps!

The girl interrupting Rushkoff was kind of annoying. She’s sounds really sweet and genuine and keen but needs to let him talk. Even an “Oh yeah” kind of screws up the flow with the audio back and forth.

This podcast is excellent.

Now I feel terrible about that earlier comment. On a second listening she was fine.

It’s difficult in the case of that ep. I was in Brighton, Mort in Scotland, Claire in Paris and Doug in New york, which causes time delay problems.

Hahaha, I felt awful listening to it myself because it sounded like I was interrupting as well, but the time delays made it really difficult for me to tell when was an appropriate time to ask a question.
