This is the second album by Scottish progressive hardcore band Citizens and it’s a total pleasure from start to finish. Serpentine riffs that never fail to impress and surprise, pneumatic production and a drummer who always has something interesting up his sleeve. For an album recorded and produced in a day this has an awful lot to say and I can only assume that the songs have been some time in the writing, because they’re just too good to be off the cuff. They heave with energy and adrenaline, a lot of which comes from the dual vocal talents. I have no idea what they’re shouting about but they sound really angry and I know better than to approach an angry Scotsman. I could probably go on for a few hundred words about this album but I don’t want to dilute the simple message. If you like intelligent, well produced and forceful guitar music and you’re a fan of Nitkowski, Quicksand etc then get this album.
