I agree to some extent about linking in the subject with magick, but I'm finding myself beginning to actually hate that term for all its bullshit pomposity. I'm not sure if Jim is into that kind of angle anyhow. So that aside, I find what he says fascinating and the evidence equally interesting; but more importantly I like the way it is all presented rationally.

I like speaking to people with brains, even if I'm too dumb to understand what they're talking about half the time. The great think about Elvidge, however, is you always know exactly what he's talkng about.

I wouldn't mind seeing a more in-depth a discussion of the links with magick here. There must be loads of stuff around which relates magick to programming/ hacking.
I remember the Out There Radio episode on Kabbalah was called (quick check) 'Open Source Programming for the Human Soul'. That kind of implies that you're hacking the soul rather than reality but I'm sure you could make a good case for arguing the latter.

The bit about astral projection made me think of the spectator-cam mode you get before joining a match in FPSs.

Quantum mechanics makes my mind hurt but this was one of the least painful attempts to discuss it I have heard. It is also the first time I've heard Planck's constant described as the basic unit of time in the universe. All interesting stuff.I think the problem people have is that we need to fill in the gaps and see order brought to chaos. It is difficult for us to conceive of atoms being in a superposition (two places simultaneously ... i think) so it feels like a very unsatisfying answer, but that doesn't mean it's wrong. I think we have to accept that the euniverse is bigger than us and we will never know everything about it... imagine if we did ?
I'm quite happy to live in a simulation. At least we got a good one... How would the simulation theory answer for all the poor bastards that got to be simulated Christians being crucified and Jews being Holocausted ? Great episode. Maybe we should have more philosophesque episodes ?
